six_events

January 2008

six_events aimed to turn ordinary, everyday events into performances.  Six simple activities, getting on a bus, walking down a road or buying an item in a supermarket, were to be presented/performed over six days at the end of January 2008.  Each event contained internal tasks, which allowed the performer to look and listen for the art and music constantly surrounding them, rather than being the passive consumers of Art created by others.  The simplicity of the events made performers begin to question why they were doing these things in the first place.  Participants hailed from nearly thirty countries worldwide.

The Nothing and the Nothingness

Louise T Blouin Institute, London

Over a hundred performers from many disciplines came together for an evening of exploration into nothingness at the Louise T Blouin institute in Notting Hill. They presented to visitors a wide range of aural and visual impressions about the subject of nothingness in art, music, philosophy and literature. After almost a year of planning, the result was a structured work from overlapping materials, performances, actions and environments for a freely moving audience to experience and assimilate the presented ideas and find their own meanings whilst constantly being challenged to consider the complex subject, by witnessing nothing happening and experiencing nothingness for themselves.
